Inscriptions on Memorials and Gravestones in Welsh

I have been tracing the family tree of my wife. On both parents’ sides, Welsh was the first language, and in some cases the only language, spoken. Whilst carrying out this research, I have discovered memorials and gravestones with inscriptions in Welsh so I thought it would be interesting to list some of the most common words and phrases used.

The words are not always correctly spelt and mutations may, or may not be correct, on the gravestones and some local idiom might have been used.

I have included four sources for the information, with thanks to their authors.
The genealogywise site includes further selections of words including familial relationships, days and months, and occupations.

The list can be viewed by clicking on this link.
